I'm Julia, a German self-published author and artist living on the beautiful island of Ireland. My debut children's book series Spud & Kodi is directly inspired by the antics of our two real cats by the same name, and my dream of looking after my very own patch of land in this wonderful country.
About The Author
I still fondly remember the stories my own parents used to read me as a child, and the impact they had on my love for nature, animals and everything in between. Perhaps Spud and Kodi's imaginary tales of life on an Irish smallholding can encourage the curiosity of a new generation: to learn about the natural world, how we interact with it, and what wonderful things may grow in it.
About Spud & Kodi
Kodi is the well-travelled senior star of the series and a true adventurer. Born in 2016 in Tasmania, he grew up on the dusty roads of Australia until his journey brought him all the way across the ocean to Europe.
Spud's unexpected arrival on a summer day in 2022 marked the beginning of a joyous friendship. Having spent the first six months of his life as a stray in our quiet neighbourhood, he still remains a passionate roamer at heart.
Nowadays, he reigns comfortably over his garden kingdom. If you asked him about his favourite hiding spot, he would probably pick between a patch of long grass or a cardboard box of any size (though preferably slightly too small).
Where Kodi is steady and patient, Spud is all energy and no brakes! He delights in chasing anything that moves and keeps everyone on their toes by sticking his nose into all sorts of trouble.
