Human & Handmade

In an era where customised AI images are only one prompt away, I believe that encouraging creativity shaped by our own personal experiences and aspirations is more important than ever. In this spirit, I pledge that my work is entirely my own and does not involve any generative technologies.

Support art made by people, for people.

Human art is flawed, and that's a beautiful thing.

My Creative Process

All of my book illustrations are drawn with a digital tablet. The process is similar to drawing on paper, but with the huge advantage of digital layers.

Imagine layers like clear plastic sheets, each containing a different element (for example, one sheet for lines and another for colour). They can be reshaped and edited without affecting the rest of the illustration.

Every illustration follows the same pattern:

Sketch: A rough first composition

Line art: Drawing clean outlines

Filling: Adding the basic colours

Details: Highlights and shadows

Full page illustrations also receive painted backgrounds, often alongside other steps.
